The Victor Arsidi Observatory is a private observatory on Fisher Island, Florida located between Miami Beach and the Port of Miami. The Observatory is open to residents and members of Fisher Island by appointment. Currently, the observatory has a Celestron C14 Compustar telescope under an Ash Dome.
The observatory was established in 1990 through the kind donations of Mr. Victor Arsidi. Until 1999, the observatory had regular monthly viewings for residents on the island. The observatory has been virtually unused since then, and is currently being refurbished.
The Compustar controller is no longer fully operational, and we are looking for a new mount/goto controller for the C14. Any suggestions are welcome. Currently, we are looking at the Losmandy Titan mount and Gemini Controller.
We hope to have the observatory restored to full operation in the next few months, and resume monthly viewings for benefit of the Fisher Island Day School and Fisher Island community.
